Bleak Beach Walkthrough: Lighting Up the Beach & Ultra Rank Path

How to clear Bleak Beach in Pokémon Pokopia, light up the beach, and unlock Sparkling Skylands via the Ultra Rank prerequisite.

Bleak Beach is one of the mid-campaign Cloud Island regions. It is the gating piece on the path to Sparkling Skylands, because the in-game text tracks two prerequisites for Ultra Rank: "Party in Rocky Ridges" and "Light up Bleak Beach."

What "lighting up Bleak Beach" means

The Sparkling Skylands area description in the map data lists the unlock as: "Prerequisite: Ultra Rank (Party in Rocky Ridges + Light up Bleak Beach), and clear out the junk blocking the gate on the other end." That phrasing is the load-bearing source for everything Bleak Beach progression boils down to:

  1. Reach Bleak Beach and progress its requests until the lighting tasks unlock
  2. Complete the lighting requirements (lamps/decorations on the beach as flagged in the in-game tracker)
  3. Pair this with completing the Rocky Ridges party milestone
  4. Clear the gate junk on the Sparkling Skylands side

Bleak Beach by the numbers

The interactive map records 67 mapped points inside Bleak Beach across the standard category groups (Locations, Collectibles, Items, Pokémon). For the full pin list — including notable Pokémon spawns and the lighting fixtures — open the Bleak Beach region detail page.

Pokémon and materials on Bleak Beach

Bleak Beach mixes shoreline, sand, and rocky transition tiles, which makes it useful for:

  • Soft Clay (sometimes searched as squishy clay) from wet/sand transition tiles
  • Limestone from the rocky cliff sections
  • Iron Ore as a secondary source compared to Rocky Ridges
  • Beach-aligned Pokémon spawns once the area is fully lit

Practical tips

  • Light the beach in passes — do not try to place every fixture in one visit; let Pokémon requests drive material acquisition
  • Park Cut and Rock Smash Pokémon in adjacent habitats so request rewards refill your build materials passively
  • Coordinate with Rocky Ridges progression — finishing Rocky Ridges parties first speeds up the Ultra Rank trigger
FAQ

Bleak Beach Walkthrough: Lighting Up the Beach & Ultra Rank Path — FAQ

  • What unlocks Sparkling Skylands?

Sparkling Skylands requires Ultra Rank. Ultra Rank itself requires two milestones: "Party in Rocky Ridges" and "Light up Bleak Beach." After hitting Ultra Rank, you also need to clear the junk blocking the Sparkling Skylands gate.

  • Can I access Sparkling Skylands without lighting up Bleak Beach?

No. The map description explicitly lists "Light up Bleak Beach" as a Sparkling Skylands prerequisite via Ultra Rank. There is no documented bypass.

  • Is Bleak Beach worth farming for materials?

It is a useful secondary source for Soft Clay and Limestone, especially while you are progressing the lighting requirements. For volume material runs, Rocky Ridges remains the primary destination.
