Is Pokémon Pokopia on Switch 1?

No. Pokémon Pokopia is a Switch 2 exclusive. It will not run on the original Nintendo Switch, Switch Lite, or Switch OLED.

Why is Pokopia Switch 2 Exclusive?

Game Freak confirmed that Pokopia's advanced physics, real-time weather simulation, and seamless online multiplayer required Switch 2's upgraded hardware:

• 8GB RAM (vs 4GB on Switch 1)
• Dedicated GPU with ray-tracing support
• Faster CPU for real-time Pokémon behavior simulation

What is GameShare?

Switch 2's GameShare feature allows one player with Pokopia to share the Palette Town portion of the game with one guest player during a local wireless or GameChat session.

Limitations:

• Nearby GameShare supports one guest on Nintendo Switch 2 or Nintendo Switch
• Guest players are limited to a subset of features
• Regular online Link Play uses separate game copies; online GameShare uses GameChat

Can I Use My Old Save Data?

Pokopia does not connect to Pokémon HOME or any previous game. Your progress starts fresh on Cloud Island.
